Welcome to the website of Grameen Swapna (GS)!
Thank you for visiting the Grameen Swapna website. Grameen Swapna is a national non-profit development organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty and hunger in Bangladesh. GS is founded in 1996 and registered with the Directorate of the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Ministry of the Prime Minister office of Bangladesh and also registered with the Directorate of Social Services of Social welfare Ministry the Government of Bangladesh.

In Bangladesh, a large majority of the Bangladesh population, especially the rural poor, are dependent on natural resources to sustain their livelihoods. The natural environment is the basis of basic livelihood elements- income generation, nutrition, water, health and sanitation. Climate change and environmental degradation exist as a threat to this natural resource base, and more directly to the livelihood characteristics of these communities. As the climate changes due to the anthropogenic (man-made) enhanced greenhouse effect, communities in Bangladesh are likely to face greater livelihood challenges and more frequent disasters.

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. It has been fraught with serious environmental degradation, high unemployment rates and gender inequities, all of which have created a strong need for development assistance. Compounding these issues, Bangladesh is geographically situated so that it bears the brunt of frequent natural disasters, such as severe floods and cyclones. GS programs are Education Program (Pre-Primary and Computer Literacy), Health & Health Education, Relief (Baby Food, Winter Clothes and Wheel Chair), Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation, Empowerment and Rights Program Capacity Building, Income and Employment Generation, Rehabilitation of the Persons with Disability, Ecological Agriculture and Farmer Development, Disasters Management, Street Children Shelter and Education, HIV/AIDS Prevention Awareness, Renewable Energy (Solar Energy) and Clean Cook stove Program.
